On Christmas Eve I was shocked to hear of LANG HANCOCK’s open heart surgery in Perth. Lang is, to my mind, the man who has single-handedly done most to move Australia into the 20th century.

I wonder, will he have to die before Australians recognise him rather than deriding him for so promptly breaking Australia’s 11th commandment: Thou Shalt Not Succeed.

Fortunately, I know Lang will keep right on fighting.

Sadly, I know Australia will go on ignoring.

And now, in the meantime, our highest national awards will continue to go to divisive Bible bashers, blood-sucking public servants and worn-out businessmen.
