Viv Forbes, “Let’s sell,” The Australian, January 23, 1985, p. 8, as a letter to the editor. (He’s still brilliant as Carbon Sense Coalition chairman.)

Isn’t it remarkable that the people who are presiding over strikes or industrial unrest in the Public Service, the railways, the power utilities, hospitals, TAA, Telecom, Australia Post and the grain handling authorities are also trying to dictate wages and industrial policies to the rest of us.

It seems that monolithic government monopolies, which are a burden for taxpayers or consumers, are also a pain for many of their employees.

Let’s sell them.

Soon while they are still worth something.
